Fooling Hitler is a factual drama which tells the true story of great deception and Allied success during 1944 Normandy Invasion. The German high command was so persuaded by the scam that even after D-Day it believed General Patton had another army of two million men and a vast tank corps ready to roll in a second wave. Based on a real-life dirty dozen, including best-selling British novelist Dennis Wheatley (Peter Pacey) and American movie star and socialite Douglas Fairbanks Jr. (Richard Wills-Cotton), the drama reveals the bitter struggle fought by these unlikely heroes to convince Allied top brass that deception is one of the most powerful weapons to deploy against the enemy. Their plan is a mix of the most unorthodox and surprising schemes, uniting a brilliant and eccentric team of soldiers, actors, double agents, set builders and back-room boffins with the single purpose of making Hitler the biggest fool in history. Together this dirty dozen pulls off the greatest deception in military history - Operation Bodyguard - the crowning glory of four years of covert operations, when Hitler and his high command believe the D Day landings will take place in Calais in July 1944 rather than Normandy a month later.
