Some of my earlier compilations have been featured on some really nice sites like Eek the Cat and Trustar Vibrations. There seems to be renewed interest in surf and guitar instrumental music and I've found some really great albums in the last few months. Often the albums are only featured for a limited time and then disappear forever.
I've decided to feature some tracks which are either thematically or titled to reflect a tropical or exotic feeling. These are mainly from albums I've found in my wanderings around the blogosphere in the last few months. Without even really trying I came up with 60 tracks which I've split into three volumes and here they are!
I've been listening to them for much of today and they're a pretty eclectic and yes, exotic lot. There's some vintage tracks like the Pastel Six's quirky Bandito which affixes itself into your brain like a a mosquito sucking on a cover girl's umm, well you get the idea. There's also what sounds like the Astronauts version of Quiet Village which has oddly been retitled Quiet Planet by the Astronettes a supposed group of French call girls. It just sounds like an Astronauts outtake to me. There's even a track which doesn't even feature guitars at all but it fits right in, see if you can find which one it is.
I'm going to re-upload some albums to the old Sandy's surf blog so keep an eye out for that. There may be somewhat of a hiatus as I'm moving to the Sunshine Coast in Queensland hopefully in a couple of weeks time. Just down the road from Australia Zoo, Bindi Irwin's home. Lets hope they have some modern convenience's like Broadband but I'm pretty sure they do.
